Product Review: Ghosts From The Past!

Ghosts From The Past was a set which had big expectations to live up to right from the day it was announced. Yugioh's infamous Ghost Rare cards (which used to be present in every booster set till Breakers of Shadow in 2016) have always distinguished it from every other card game in existence, as they took the principles of aesthetics and card design to truly unparalleled levels. Naturally, Konami's decision to discontinue their legacy of Ghost Rare prints wasn't very popular with much of the playerbase, but as time went on people more or less forgot about it. At least, until Ghosts From The Past was announced.

This Week in Anime [Week 15, 2021]

Good day dear readers and welcome to issue 15 of This Week in Anime. This week brought with it many new additions to the world of anime, which we are eager to add to your weekend agenda should any of them take your fancy. Prospects for developments seem bleak in Japan with Tokyo recently reporting a spike of 729 Covid-19 cases- an increase which the city hasn't seen since February the 4th. Osaka is even more badly affected, with a recent report indicating a 1209 increase in the number of cases. Needless to say, it's difficult to find anything except the coronavirus trending in Japan this week.

Here's your Rapid Rundown for this week:

Toonami was rapidly popularizing the international spread of anime, internet sites for anime streaming were popping up everywhere and the Big 3 titles of anime (One Piece, Bleach and Naruto Shippuden) were busy climbing their way to the top of popularity charts everywhere. These were also the formative years of the newest generation of adults and have been responsible for shaping the childhood of billions of men and women today.

This Week in Anime [Week 14, 2021]

Ohayou Gozaimas to all our dear readers! We're pleased to have you back for another issue of This Week in Anime. The second week of April has been a rather slow one with few headlines of note, perhaps owing to an increasingly dire situation in Japan (with respect to Covid-19), with Osaka declaring a medical red alert and Tokyo opting to put more comprehensive restrictions in effect. While the global case count shows no indication of spiking, this does not diminish the importance of remaining ever so vigilant about the state of the global pandemic. That said, we urge all our readers to be ever so careful and keep themselves safe from ill-health!

    Here's your Rapid Rundown:
    1. AOT Manga Ends!

    2. Tesla Note Anime Confirmed!

    3. Love After World Domination Anime!

  • Anime Review: The Promised Neverland [Season 2]

Anime Review: The Promised Neverland [Season 2]

Welcome to the second segment our review of The Promised Neverland! While we were rather blunt in expressing our utter disappointment at the direction (or lack thereof) which the show decided to persue in its second season, our review of the first season still painted the anime in good light, because it truly was a budding masterpiece. Unfortunately, there is little in the way of positivity in our review of its second season.

We shall persure this review purely from the perspective of the anime and pretend like the manga doesn't even exist; we take this approach owing to the fact that the second season takes an independent narrative starting from episode 4- a decision which was met with resounding backlash from the TPN community and there have been numerous comparisons made between the two which undeniably pit the anime as a poor adaptation. If you have watched the anime but haven't read the manga, we recommend that you do so. As was the case with last week's article, a spoiler warning is in effect from this point.

  • Anime Review: The Promised Neverland [Season 1]

Anime Review: The Promised Neverland [Season 1]

The Promised Neverland was a horror, dark fantasy thriller which, across the course of two seasons, followed the story of 38 children raised in an orphanage surrounded by dense forestry and high walls. Although the series started off on a joyous and carefree note, this mood quickly took a turn for the worse before the end of the very first episode. Unfortunately, the quality of the anime mimicked a parallel decline after the end of the first season, culminating in an ending so disastrously unfaithful to the overarching story that it has gone down as one of the worst anime adaptations of all time- worthy of first place on our "Top 5 anime with Wasted Potential" list, had it ended sooner.

In this exclusive two part review, we'll take you though a detailed walk of the plot of the anime and explain just how an anime with such a masterfully choreographed first season could go so bad, so fast.
