This Week in Anime [Week 21, 2021]

The month of May has been a rather slow one in terms of developments in the anime sector. Major news headlines have been few and far between and gathering ones worth compilation in our weekly news articles has been a rather difficult task. This was certainly not the case this week: new games and animr titles graced us in abundance, and to top it all off, it seems like entertainment activities seem to be slowly resuming in Japan- a welcome change from the monotony and series of tragedies which seemed to be the norm for most of the month. It is therefore with great pleasure and significant relief that we present this week's Rapid Rundownv

    1. Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Revived!

    2. Record of Ragnarock Incoming!

    3. Higurashi: When They Cry SOTSU nears!

    4. This Week in Japan: Titans in a Mall!

Product Announcement: Battles of Legend 2021!

2021 was shaping up to be a terrible year for YuGiOh players, as concerns about Konami's silence regarding news on one of the best-selling and most impactful booster sets of the game seemed nowhere to be found, heard or even hinted at. Regarded as one of the most sought after products in the game's history, the Battles of Legend sets have always been the centerpiece of players' focus during the first half of every year. Starting with Light's Revenge in 2017 and the release of Armageddon last year, each BoL set has brought essential reprints to the table. Whether it be competitive players looking for rare cards, collectors eager to complete their number collections or just sellers looking for an easily profitable set, Battles of Legends have something for everyone... in jaw-dropping abundance!

    Product Review: Ancient Guardians

Yu-Gi-Oh's latest deck building set saw its release six days ago and is already getting sold out in both local and international markets; a stark contrast to the overwhelmingly negative reviews which ANGU got when it was first announced. In this week's review, we'll be taking an in depth look at this booster and explain exactly why Ancient Guardians is setting itself up to be one of the most promising meta strategies for the latter half of 2021! Before we get to the minute details, let's take a look at this set's makeup. As stated by Konami, the complete Ancient Guardians booster set contains 60-cards: 10 Ultra Rares, 15 Super Rares and 35 Rares, with 7 cards (6 rares + 1 foil) per booster pack. 15 cards in the set are also available as Collector's Rares, and these are still being ID'd at the time of writing.

Boldly depicting an artwork of a clash between The Dark Magician and Blue Eyes White Dragon, this year's upcoming tin is primed to take the world by storm, and waves of excitement have already started to wash over duelists worldwide in anticipation of the next big reprint product to hit the market. Although originally set for release in August, the tin's release has now been postponed by a fortnight to the 17th of September, possibly due to the recent release of Ghosts From The Past- a set which we covered in last week's article. That said, let's go over everything we know about this product so far- which is actually quite a lot! Also be on the lookout for a follow-up article in August, where we'll go into even more detail about what you can expect from this golden box of awesomeness!
