Ohayou gozaimas, minna! This week's news review is steaming hot fresh off the platter, because all our headlines for today's edition were taken from just the last 3 days! November's second week can only be defined as a crescendo of developments, culminating in the release of three monumental productions: a live action series, an anime & a movie! With all three modalities of big screen entertainment finding their way into the headlines, we're particularly eager to reveal this week's Rapid Rundown:

1. One Piece now as Live Action?! 
The cast for the One Piece Live Action has finally been revealed, and the event was marked with an abundance of hype both from the fans as well as the parties involved in the project. Netflix has been known for producing some atrocious live action remakes in the past, but the close involvement of Eiichiro Oda in the project gives us reason to keep our expectations high on this project; his message following the cast reveal hinted at more than just involvement in an executive capacity:
"We’ve been working with Netflix and Tomorrow Studios on the massive project that is the Hollywood live action series adaptation of One Piece! ... It’s not easy when you’re working with people from different cultures! But it’s preciously that process that can yield something special! For now, we’re able to announce the main cast!... Their face, the size of their mouths and hands, their aura, the way they carry themselves, their voice, their acting skills, their height, the balance amongst the Straw Hat Crew, etc...!... We decided on this cast after numerous discussion involving people around the world! It’ll take a bit more to get the show done, but we’ll continue to do our best to deliver a show that we’re confident will be enjoyed by everyone around the world! Look forward to more updates in the future!"

First announced in 2017, the adaptation has faced its fair share of setbacks; production was scheduled to commence last summer in Cape Town, but was delayed owing to Covid-19. Oda's reveal gives us all some faith that the series is still very much in development and that we can expect great things in the months to come. In early October, showrunner Steven Maeda posted a photo of himself in Cape Town, writing the word, “arrival.” On Instagram, cast member Mackenyu (who plays Zoro) posted photos of the ships that will be used in the show, including what appears to be the Going Merry! Our fingers are crossed for this one, folks!
2. New Anime: Vampire in the Garden!! 
WIT Studio's newest anime was unveiled during the (ongoing) Netflix Festival Japan 2021, where its exclusive worldwide distribution on the platform was announced for 2022. Known for producing several big names in the anime industry, such as the first three seasons of Attack on Titan, Vinland Saga, Vivy Fluorite Eye's Song & Ranking of Kings, WIT studio's portfolio becomes even more impressive under the consideration that it was founded less than a decade ago! The Twitter for NetflixAnime also made the announcement pictured above, complete with the first key art to be made public for the anime!
Initially scheduled to make its debut this year, the anime has been pushed back to sometime in 2022; we expect further details to emerge soon. The following is the synopsis for the anime given by MAL rewrite:
"Once, vampires and humans lived in harmony. Now, a young girl and a vampire queen will search for that Paradise once again. In the divided world of the future, two girls want to do the forbidden: the human wants to play the violin, and the vampire wants to see a wider world."
3. Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh! 
Nakaba Suzuki's The Seven Deadly Sins is one of the most successful anime franchises to date, with a lasting legacy materialized through a 4-season anime and 2 movies. Fans of the show will be elated to know of the reveal of yet another movie to join the franchise; this one chronicles the events post-series but before the Four Knights of the Apocalypse manga sequel. The movie will focus on Tristan (who you'll remember from Season 4), who departs from his father's castle after its seiged by a mysterious army. You can get a pretty lucid idea of what to expect from the movie (we're not talking about the plot!) through the trailer, which you can see right here!
4. This Week in Japan: Singer Hospitalized! 
Ayumi Hamasaki made news earlier this week, but for a rather tragic cause: the singer's official website revealed on Sunday the 7th that the singer had been hospitalized following a concert; the cause- anaphylactic shock! The Empress of Pop, aged 43, suffered temporary unconsciousness from which she recovered and is stabilizing, according to Avex Entertainment Inc. Fortunately, the explanation also implied that her life is not in danger; it also stated that her concert planned on Sunday had been cancelled and that future performances from Ayumi would be done following medical guidance. Hamasaki is known for several hits such as "M" & "Seasons" and has a rich portfolio, including contributions in the Dragonball: Evolution film, InuYasha, Tales of Zilla, and so on. We wish her all the best & hope she makes a prompt and complete recovery!
