The One-Card Combo of Orcust - Mekk-Knight Orcust Girsu
In the upcoming TCG booster set “Eternity Code”, one of the menacing archetype “Orcust” will get their much awaited support card that will enable them to compete against other decks without having to resort on combining themselves with other archetype, namely “Mekk-Knight Orcust Girsu”. This card will ensure to change the landscape of the meta in TCG since it has done it in the OCG scenario with it’s Mono Orcust build. In this article, we’ll talk about how “Mekk-Knight Orcust Girsu” has changed how Orcust operates.
Orcust in the Meta
In the OCG gaming, the Orcust archetype has already dominated the meta by occupying almost 30% of the total deck entries in the regional qualifiers. Same scenario can also be said about in the TCG scenario. Majority of the deck entered in the regional qualifiers are Orcust. Next is Sky Striker, Salamangreat, and SPYRAL.
If the Orcust are doing great already without “Mekk-Knight Orcust Girsu” yet, then just imagine what they can do when it’s already released on May 1, 2020.
The Card that Broke it All
For the sake of those who are not aware of the card, let’s see what “Mekk-Knight Orcust Girsu” can do:
Name: Mekk-Knight Orcust Girsu
Attribute: DARK
Level: 4
Type: Machine
Attack: 1800
Defense: 0
Effect:
If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can send 1 "Orcust" or "World Legacy" card from your Deck to the GY, then, if 2 or more other cards are in this card's column, this card is treated as a Tuner this turn. If you control no other monsters: You can Special Summon 1 "World Legacy Token" (Machine/DARK/Level 1/ATK 0/DEF 0) to both players' fields in Defense Position. You can only use each effect of "Mekk-Knight Orcust Girsu" once per turn.
As you can see, this card has a Foolish Burial effect for Orcust and World Legacy cards. A big help considering that most Orcust cards activate their effects by banishing themselves from the graveyard. Another worth noting effect of this card is the ability to turn itself into a Tuner. Decent considering you could synchro summon Borreload Salvage Dragon with this card. Also, if you happen to control no other monster, this card creates a World Legacy token monster for both players. This, in turn, will allow you to Link summon Galatea, the Orcust Automaton or Longirsu, the Orcust Orchestrator, then proceed to xyz summon Dingirsu, the Orcust of the Evening Star.
The Gameplay Flow
The main objective in any Orcust deck is to be able to send an Orcust Harp Horror in the graveyard right at the first turn. This is why many Orcust decks have Scrap Recycler, Armageddon Knight, Dark Grepher and even Mathematician on their main deck. This is very important that’s why Called by the Grave is mained as a safety net or assurance that dumping Orcust Harp Horror will commence.
Once Orcust Harp Horror is on the grave, banish it to special summon “Mekk-knight Orcust Girsu” from deck to the field. Then, Mekk-knight Orcust Girsu can send World Wand to the graveyard. Banish World Wand from the graveyard to special summon the banished Orcust Harp Horror. Then, you can proceed to Link Summon Galatea, the Orcust Automaton and activate its effect to set an Orcust Spell/Trap card from the deck, returning the World Wand banished earlier. At this point, you have so many possible moves to do that you can play around with the field for a one swing kill.
So, what do you think about Mekk-knight Orcust Girsu? Is he too powerful for TCG? Are we going to see an immediate banning of this card soon? Let us know in the comments below.
