Machina Reserbreak - The Mechanical Equalizer
In the upcoming booster set “Rise of the Duelist”, the archetype “Machina” will get their new support cards. One of them is “Machina Reserbreak”. Let see what does the card do:
Name: Machina Reserbreak
Level: 4
Attribute: Dark
Attack: 1200
Defense: 1800
Effect:
(Quick Effect): You can send this card from your hand or field to the GY, then target 1 "Machina" monster you control; it gains 1200 ATK until the end of this turn. When your "Machina" monster destroys an opponent's monster by battle, while this card is in your GY: You can add this card to your hand. You can only use each effect of "Machina Reserbreak" once per turn.
The Most Honest Machina
The main purpose of the card is to make a sudden attack boost to your “Machina” monsters on the field. Pretty much the same with “Honest” and “Elemental Hero Honest Neos”. The good thing is that it can be added with existing “Machina” floaters like “Machina Gearframe”, “Machina Reformation” and even, “Machina Metalcrunch”, if you get lucky enough that it will be randomly picked by your opponent.
Equalizing Offensive and Defensive Tactics
The ‘Machina' monster with the highest attack is “Machina Force” with it’s 4600 attack power. Too damn strong right? Too bad that monster can only be summoned through the “Commander Covington” effect, which is too damn difficult to do (requires that you sacrifice “Machina Sniper”, “Machina Soldier”, and “Machina Defender” on the field).
The next “Machina” monster with the highest attack is “Machina Citadel”. It has an attack power of 3000. Unlike “Machina Force”, this one is easier to summon on the field. It only requires that a “Machina” monster gets destroyed on your side of the field. Also, it has a destructive effect where you can wipe out your opponent’s field by destroying a Machine type monster you control. It wipes enemy monsters with an attack equal or less than the Machine monster you destroyed. This is a Quick Effect, by the way, that means you could disrupt the planned Extra Deck Monster summoning.
Here is the problem, in a situation that you are already overpowered by your enemy (which means that your opponent could have summoned a monster that exceeds “Machina Citadel” attack power), Citadel’s effect wouldn’t do much. This is where “Machina Researbreak” comes in. This could turn the tide in your favor since your opponent could lose his or her overpowering monster due to an unprecedented defensive move. Not only that, you get to recycle that “Machina Researbreak” back to your hand since you have destroyed a monster by battle. With that “Machina Researbreak” in your hand, you could launch a deadly blow to your opponent on your turn. Keep in mind that “Machina Researbreak” does not require that your “Machina” monster be in battle against opponents’ monsters to activate its effect, unlike “Honest”.
So, what do you guys think about this new “Machina” support card, will we be able to see the “Machina” in the meta in the 2nd quarter of this year? Let us know in the comment section below.
