Revenge of the Freaky Stuff Toys - Fluffal/Frightfur New Support Cards
After Konami revealed the new Darklord cards in the upcoming Rise of the Duelist booster set in OCG, they have also revealed new support cards for the Fluffal and Frightfur archetype. For the past years, the Frightful archetype haven’t been performing well in competitive gaming. Maybe these new support cards might be able to help them.
Name: Fluffal Dolphin
Level: 4
Attribute: WATER
Type: Fairy
Attack: 1600
Defense: 1000
You can only use this card name’s (1) and (2) effects once per turn each.
(1) You can target 1 “Toy Vendor” in your GY; Set it to your field, and if you do, send 1 “Edge Imp Sabres” or 1 “Fluffal” monster from your Deck to the GY.
(2) If this card is sent to the GY as material for a Fusion Summon: You can shuffle 1 or your “Polymerization” Spells or “Fusion” Spells that is banished or in your GY into the Deck.
Late-Game Fluffal Foolish Burial
Not quite sure what this card is about. Seems like a late game set-up card for Frightful Fusion. The 1st effect requires that you have a Toy Vendor in your graveyard. Seems difficult considering that Toy Vendor itself does not have an effect to send itself to the Graveyard.
Name: Edge Imp Scythe
Level: 3
Attribute: DARK
Type: Fiend
Attack: 1000
Defense: 0
You can only use this card name’s (1) and (2) effects once per turn each.
(1) During your opponent’s Main Phase (Quick Effect): You can reveal this card in your hand; Fusion Summon 1 “Frightfur” Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck, using monsters from your hand or field as Fusion Material, including this card in your hand.
(2) If a “Frightfur” Fusion Monster(s) you control would be destroyed by battle or card effect, you can banish this card from your GY instead.
Easy Polymerization
This is definitely the best “Edge Imp” monster for Fluffal archetype. It acts as a fusion card and fusion material at the same time. Saves a lot of cards for fusion summoning a Frightful monster. Also, the protective effect is quite handy. Your precious Frightful fusion monsters won’t bite the dust so easily.
Name: Frightfur Whale
Level: 9
Attribute: WATER
Type: Fiend
Attack: 2600
Defense: 2400
Fusion Materials: 1 “Edge Imp” monster + 1 “Fluffal” monster
(1) If this card is Fusion Summoned: You can destroy 2 cards on the field (1 on each side).
(2) Once per turn (Quick Effect): You can target 1 Fusion Monster you control; send 1 “Frightfur” card from your Deck or Extra Deck to the GY, except “Frightfur Whale”, and if you do, the targeted monster gains ATK equal to half its own original ATK until the end of this turn.
The Frightful Fusion for Toy Vendor Build
A Frightful monster that destroys 1 card on each player’s field when fusion summoned. Probably to send Toy Vendor to the graveyard. The card isn’t that bad for once, the fusion materials for this monster aren't as tedious as the other Frightful fusion monster. Also, it can send frightful cards from the Main Deck or Extra Deck for extra muscle.
Name: Frightfur Repair
Card Type: Normal Spell Card
You can only use either this card name’s (1) or (2) effect per turn, and only once that turn.
(1) Target 1 “Frightfur” Fusion Monster in your GY; return it to the Extra Deck, then you can Special Summon 1 “Fluffal” or “Edge Imp” monster from your GY.
(2) You can banish this card from your GY; Special Summon 1 “Fluffal” or “Edge Imp” monster from your hand.
Late-Game Fluffal Monster Reborn
If Fluffal Dolphin is the late-game Foolish Burial, then this one is the late-game Monster Reborn. Having a Frightful fusion monster in the graveyard is more likely a late game scenario. Too much requirement just to special summon a Fluffal or Edge Imp monster from the graveyard if you ask me.
Name: Frightfur Vendor
Card Type: Continuous Trap Card
(1) This card’s name becomes “Toy Vendor” while on the field or in the GY.
(2) Once per turn: You can discard 1 card; draw 1 card and reveal it, and if it is an “Edge Imp” monster, you can destroy 1 card on the field. Otherwise, place 1 card from your hand on the top or bottom of the Deck.
(3) If this card is sent to the GY: You can target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; its ATK becomes halved until the end of this turn.
Another Toy Vendor
This is too difficult if you ask me. It’s a destructive card whose condition is based on RNG factor. Not to mention, only a handful Edge Imp cards are usually included in any Fluffal deck. Maybe just created to increase the number of Toy Vendor in the deck.
So, what do you think about the new support card for Fluffal/Frightful? Are any of these cards good for competitive gaming or Fluffal/Frightful archetype will remain a casual deck? Let us know in the comment section below.
